Since World War II, Okinawa has been the stage where the United States and Japan act out dramatic changes in their relationship. Ruth Ann Keyso is Director of Communications at Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois. She has taught English and history in Japan and Switzerland. Masahide Ota, formerly governor of Okinawa Prefecture, now directs the Ota Peace Research Institute in Naha City, Okinawa.
