Title
The Rudiments of Jumuah: Explained by Shaikh Muhammad Abdur-Rahman Mubarakpuri[1353h] - Paperback
by Aaliyah Abdullah Ibn Dwight Battle (Translator), Shaikh Muhammad Abdur- Rahm Mubarakpuri (Author)
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "We are the last to come, but will be the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, though the former nations were given the Scriptures before us. Then, this was their day (i.e Friday) that was prescribed for them, but they differed about it. For that reason, Allah gave us the guidance for it and all the other people are behind us in this respect: The Jews holy day is tomorrow and the Christians is the day after tomorrow.[1]
This hadith teaches us that Allah gave us superiority to other nations in worshipping Him on the right day of the week. With that being the case we as Muslims must appreciate this day as it should be valued. This includes knowing what to do and what to avoid on a Friday, from sunset to sunset. Every time Ramadan and Hajj come around Muslims prepare themselves, and by the time the two yearly Eids come the Muslims are ready. Unfortunately, some Muslims neglect the weekly Eid. Since I have been the teacher at Masjid Nu'man ibn Thabit in Qatar, I notice that Muslims regularly come late, dress unsuitably, and talk during the Khutbah. After the Covid-19 crisis and the masjid reopened this only got worse.
For that reason, I felt the need to revive the spirit of Jumu'ah by putting together a comprehensive guide for all Muslims to learn and understand the significant importance of this day. This book comes from Imam At-Tirmithi's comprehensive collection of hadith, known as Jami' At-Tirmithi. There are a total of 29 hadith in this book with the explanation done by Shaikh Muhammad Abdur Rahman Mubarkpuri[1353H]. After those chapters I added an extra 9 from a collection of essays I have done over the last several years; with explanations from various scholars.
This book has been written and made easy for every Muslim to read and benefit from. This was another one of my objectives in working on this book. Along with this then the greatest objective and goal is the acceptance of it by Allah. I pray and hope this books revives the lost love of Jumu'ah in hearts of those who read it.
