The Heart Doctrine explores the mysteries of human consciousness, the spiritual nature of the heart, and the question of the existence of an 'I' within the individual-a divine spark, a Monad, a jivatma, a quantum self or 'god spark!' Modern psychology and science have been dominated by "the head doctrine"-the assumption that the material brain produces consciousness and that a human being does not have a true 'I, ' except as an illusory byproduct of neural events in the cerebral cortex. In contrast, mystics claim that the origins of consciousness and Self are related to the physical and spiritual dimensions of the Heart. A human being is ensouled through the heart. Further, consciousness and vitality are related to oxygenation and blood flow within the material body and to the subtle anatomy of the chakras. Mystical experiences involve penetrating veils of nature which allow for the awakening of consciousness and the Heart, the realization of higher Space dimensions and experiences of the unity of things with the inner life. We are individual "eyes" or "I"s of "THAT," the unity within which we live, move and have our being. Most importantly, human beings have a zero point centre and this is the means by which higher dimensional influences bring life and consciousness into the living being. There is a higher dimensional physics and metaphysics to the human heart and to the issues of consciousness. The Heart Doctrine challenges the orthodox scientific and new age views of the day but is consistent with the esoteric teachings of the world's religions-including Judaism and Kabbalah, Gnosticism and mystical Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and with The Secret Doctrine of H. P. Blavatsky. Author Biography

Christopher Patrick Holmes was born in Sussex, England on October 7, 1949 and raised in Ontario, Canada. He graduated with a B.A. from Carleton University, Ottawa in 1971 and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1978. Christopher taught at York University, Downsview (Toronto) Ontario over an eleven-year period amidst controversy over his investigations of mystical and spiritual psychology, science and psychical phenomena. He co-founded three centers with Anita J. Mitra-the Institute for Mystical and Spiritual Science, Maple, Ontario, the Rainbow Centre in Toronto and Zero Point in the Ottawa valley. Christopher worked for twelve years as a forensic psychologist with young offenders and adults within the Ontario Ministry of Corrections. Since 2003, Christopher has dedicated himself to writing and furthering the aims of the Zero Point Institute for Mystical and Spiritual Science, while learning and working with Miss K. On March 21, 2010, the Zero Point Institute opened in Kemptville, Ontario. Christopher maintains a website at www.zeropoint.ca and hosts a bimonthly radio show with co-host James A. Moffatt on www.bbsradio.com. Christopher has studied the issues of consciousness, mystical and spiritual psychologies, modern physics and ancient metaphysics, for over thirty five years. In addition, he has experienced various paranormal phenomena, states of illumination and awakening.
