Janet Lecompte, who lives in Colorado Springs, is the author of Pueblo, Hardscrabble, Greenhorn: The Upper Arkansas, 1832-1856 (1978), Rebellion in Rio Arriba, 1837 (1985), and many articles about the Old West.
