Missionaries coming from the so-called literate world have much to learn from the application of principles behind oral communication. It is for this reason that the Southeast Asian Network (SEANET) proudly presents the fifth volume, Communicating Christ Through Story and Song. Each of the forum presenters is both practitioner and missological reflector serving in the Buddhist world and is experienced in the areas in which they write.

With contributions from seasoned practitioners working in Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Philippines, this insightful book explores the Biblical foundations - and the cultural imperative - of employing oral tradition to effectively communicate in Buddhist contexts.
May this volume enable the global Christian community to listen and learn from those to whom orality is the main form of communication of the gospel as God's song and story goes on.

Author Biography

Paul H. de Neui is an ordained minister with the Evangelical Covenant Church. He and his wife served as missionaries with church planting and community development organizations in northeast Thailand from 1987-2005. He completed his PhD in Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. Paul has been involved in SEANET for many years, dedicated to seeing the writings of emerging non-Western and other practitioners in print for the benefit of the global church. Presently he is the professor of missiology and intercultural studies and the director of the Center for World Christian Studies at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL.
