About the Author:
Tracie Peterson (born 1959) is a New York Times, USA Today, CBA, and ECPA bestselling author affectionately known as the “Queen of Historical Christian Fiction.” With more than 110 novels to her credit, she has captured the hearts of readers through stories that weave together faith, history, and romance. Her works often spotlight the challenges and triumphs of women in history, with many series featuring the legendary Harvey Girls of the Fred Harvey Company.
Peterson began her publishing journey under the pen name Janelle Jamison, securing her first book contract in 1992. Her debut novel, A Place to Belong, was released in 1993 with Barbour Publishing’s Heartsong Presents, a line she later helped manage, overseeing the production of 52 books a year. In 1995, she signed with Bethany House Publishers, where she continues to write exclusively, often collaborating with other acclaimed Christian authors such as Judith Pella, Judith Miller, James Scott Bell, Kimberley Woodhouse, and her daughter, Jennifer Peterson.
Her dedication to Christian fiction stems from a lifelong commitment to ministry. Tracie gave her life to Jesus at the age of six and felt called early on to share the Gospel. Her motto, Soli Deo Gloria—For God Alone the Glory, defines both her writing and her life’s work. Through her novels, she seeks to inspire hope and point readers toward Christ.
Peterson’s literary achievements have earned her numerous honors, including the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Christian Fiction Writers, the 2007 Career Achievement Award from Romantic Times, and the True West Magazine Best Western Romance Author award in 2013. Her novel Embers of Love also received the USA Best Books Award for Best Religious Fiction in 2011.
A Kansas native, Tracie now resides in the mountains of Montana with her husband, Jim. Together, they run Peterson Ink, Inc., which has played an integral role in producing Christian romance titles for Barbour Publishing. They have three children—Jennifer, Julie, and Erik—and continue to embrace faith, family, and storytelling as cornerstones of their lives.
