Even the briefest survey of the fall of 1973 shows it to have been a time of unparalleled UFO activity. Thousands witnessed UFO landings. Hundreds sighted occupants riding in them. Others were abducted and examined aboard spaceships. Know that these were not the high-flying discs of the early '50s or the close-approaching craft of the mid-'60s. Instead, these vehicles touched down all across the United States and the Western Hemisphere. Before 1973, it had been only sporadic.

The first indications that October 1973 would be different from previous UFO flaps came during August when a man and his son, driving down a New Hampshire highway, saw a strange machine sitting in a nearby field with a tall humanoid standing beside it. Neither father nor son felt the urge to stop and examine the craft.

In the middle of September, a Sydney, a North Carolina family reported a creature with red glowing eyes, long hair, pointed ears, and a hook nose on a gray face near. The creature limped and was missing a hand but could leap sixty feet at a time. Later examination of the field where the alien had been seen revealed no footprints or other physical evidence. A radio disc jockey and his friends later saw the same creature and fired six shots at it.

Several Savannah, Georgia teenagers reported seeing ten black, hairy dogs exit a landed UFO and run through a cemetery.

Recounting alien abductions during October 1973:

• Pat Roach was asleep with her children in their house in Utah when they made contact.
• Susan Ramstead was going to a business meeting in a Midwestern city when she was abducted by aliens and subjected to a physical examination.
• Dionisio LLanca was on an overnight trip in Argentina when it happened to him.
• Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker were fishing in Mississippi. (The famed Pascagoula abduction)
• Leigh Proctor was on her way home from vacation when she was taken from her car by several "creatures."
• In 1973, an Alitalia airliner en-route to Naples sighted a mysterious round object. Two Italian Air Force fighter planes from Ciampino airbase confirmed the sighting. Months later, another sighting at Turin's Caselle airport.

As we travel in the wake of intergalactic spacecraft, it's apparent that their visits are by design. To comprehend, we must slowly move down the paths, examining each curve and clue. Only then will we understand the force behind the October Scenario.
