September 17, 1862, over 25,000 men became casualties in the battle of Antietam, on the Civil War's single bloodiest day. He is the author of The Atlanta Campaign, The Wilderness Campaign, and The Spotsylvania Campaign. He is an historic preservation attorney living in Baltimore.
