Title
It Happened in Massachusetts - Paperback
by Larry Pletcher (Author), Dan Spinella (Author)
You've studied the Salem witch trials, the Boston Tea Party, and Paul Revere's midnight ride. But do you know the whole story? It Happened in Massachusetts gives readers inside information on these events as well as recounting lesser-known happenings.
Back Jacket
True Tales from the Bay State's Past From the real story of the witch hysteria that raged through Salem Village in 1692 to the hot August day in 1892 when Lizzie Borden "took an axe," It Happened in Massachusetts tells the stories of horrible happenings, disasters, losses, and triumphs in the state that has been home to more visionaries, revolutionaries, and scions of society than the other forty-nine states put together. Learn how timely musket fire and a potent stomachache cure helped the Plymouth Colony survive. How it wasn't really "The British are coming!" that Paul Revere yelled during his midnight ride (which ended with him losing his horse). How the Great Fire of 1872 was great fun for some Bostonians, and led to expansion of their city. How the Curse of the Bambino--set into motion when Babe Ruth was traded to the Yankees in 1920 for a Broadway musical--was finally broken when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004.
