ROBERTA M. GILBERT, M.D., is a psychiatrist in private practice and on the faculty of the Georgetown Family Center. She is a noted expert in the innovative family systems theory pioneered by the late Dr. Murray Bowen. She is the author of the widely acclaimed Extraordinary Relationships (Wiley).
